Shipping

I can ship paintings all over the world. If a courier can get to you, I can get a painting to you. I have happy clients in the US, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium and the UK. Please read on for more information and feel free to contact me with any questions.

If shipping is not made clear in the description of the painting, please contact me to discuss.

COVID-19

Please note that the Corona crisis can delay couriers. If you are interested in a piece, you can secure it by purchasing it and I will do my best to get it to you as soon as possible. So far, most couriers are operating as normal and I have experienced no delays. Please be understanding if delays do take place. If possible (and not in lockdown!) please collect. If you are local, I can usually deliver. Do get in touch to discuss.

Collection

Collection is always preferred and available. This way you can be sure your painting comes to no harm by a careless courier. Please make an appointment for collection. Full and cleared payments is required before collection. I will not accept payment during collection.  Because of the Corona virus collection will have to be quite impersonal: a simple and distanced hand-over at the door is all we can offer.

Delivery

Delivery by me can be arranged if you are relatively local.

Courier

For small and medium sized pieces that are not framed behind glass I will use a normal courier (DPD, Parcelforce, etc). The painting will be wrapped very well. Most normal couriers will not insure art, so good packaging is key. The cost of posting is usually included in the price of the painting but please check the painting description or simply ask.

Art Courier

For glazed and very large pieces I will hire Aardvark Art Couriers who are experienced couriers for art and antiques. The cost for an art courier is sometimes included in the painting price, but not always. Please check the painting description or just ask.

Glazed (Pastel) Piece

Pastel paintings that are framed behind glass are difficult to ship, because the risk of the glass breaking is too large. That is why I don’t ship framed pastel paintings with glass. To get your painting to you there are a few options:

  • Collect the painting
  • If you are local I can deliver
  • Use an art courier (Aardvark, + £100, UK only).
  • I can replace the glass with plexiglass, for safer shipping, and recommend having the plexiglass replaced by normal (or museum-) glass as soon as possible to avoid the risk of static.
  • You can purchase the painting unframed. I will wrap it safely and securely and recommend taking it to a knowledgeable framer as soon as possible because pastel paintings (just like charcoal) remain fragile while unframed (the pastel is easily smudged).

Please discuss before purchasing.

Please check the painting description to see whether shipping is included in the price.

Paintings

Shipping costs can vary from very affordable to hugely expensive depending on (mostly) the size of the parcel and (sometimes) the destination. Please ask before purchasing. For normal priced smaller pieces I will include shipping costs. For larger pieces I will need payment to cover the cost.  I will use a normal courier (UPS, Fedex, etc) to ship your painting. These couriers do not insure art so I will make sure it is packaged extremely well. Shipping pieces that are over 1 meter can get very costly. So before you buy, please check with me about the cost of shipping or make your own arrangements to have the painting collected.

Glazed (Pastel) Piece

It is very risky to ship a painting that is framed behind glass. Couriers are not known to handle parcels with much care and so the glass could break. Broken glass will damage the painting and cause potential delays at the border. So I simply do not ship pieces that are framed behind glass. There are plenty of solutions though, so if you are interested in a pastel painting, please consider:

  • I can replace the glass with plexiglass, for safer shipping, and I would then recommend having the plexiglass replaced by normal (or museum-) glass by a good framer as soon as possible to avoid the risk of static.
  • You can purchase the painting unframed. I will wrap it safely and securely and recommend taking it to a knowledgeable framer as soon as possible because pastel paintings (just like charcoal) remain fragile while unframed (the pastel is easily smudged).

Customs

I am not responsible for any customs or other import taxes levied by your country. If any bills are raised, please pay it as soon as you can to release your painting to you.
